Did I tell you I have to wait an extra week (or is it two?) because my surgeon is going on vacation? I didn't have a choice anyway but I guess it is good that I'm not his last surgery before vacation. You know how you get at work during the last few hours or days before a retreat? I'm glad I'm not that final patient. I use the same logic when I get my car worked on, even if it is just an oil change. Never a Monday or Friday.
Likewise, I didn't want to be the first patient after his return, so I chose Thursday. The surgeon does surgies on Wednesday and Thursday only so I elected to wait the extra day. Plus, Shelly works Wednesday's and is off on Thursday's. See how thoughtful I am?

Smart thinking. I always think the same way when I schedule appointments - I never like to schedule at the end of the day. They could be tired and ready to push you out the door so they can go home too! You should be good on Thursday. He will be nice and refreshed!

What good advice about the Monday or Friday appointments for anything! I had always heard you didn't want to purchase a car that had been made on a Monday or Friday! Hadn't carried that thought to other areas of life until now! Thanks! Waiting is not easy, I'm sure, but a Thursday sounds good!
Emory & Family, You are definitely on my church prayer list & in my personal tho'ts & prayers everyday. Did I ever tell you how much it meant to have you at our wedding 12/14/91? Well, I'm telling you again now.I'm going to send you something soon. Lots of Love to All & Hugs to those cute girls! Monica
Dear Emory, Shelly, and girls,
I was sorry to hear about the thyroid cancer. You were prayed for at our church last night and put on our prayer list. Try to keep a positive attitude as you seem to be doing in the blogs. They are quite entertaining! It seems you've tried to think of EVERYTHING.
Well, God is in control and He is able to bring you all through this difficult time. Remember Proverbs 3:5-6 which says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight".(NASB) Take care.
Love and prayers,
Rachel
Dear Emory, Shelly, and Girls,
Monica first told me of your illness, then Rachel, and about your blog. I really enjoyed
seeing your positive activities with your beautiful girls and the extra push it surely took for you to do this with your illness. The blog makes me feel like I'm there with you. Very nice! Thank you.
I'm glad you're exercising faith in all this, endeavoring to possess positive energies in your response. We all need help from God in this regard. "Man's extremities are God's opportunities." "Hope thou in God." "Cast all your care upon the Lord, because He cares for you."
I still have the pictures you sent us of the girls in their pretty little dresses and caps on the mantle of the fireplace, which makes me think of all of you often.
Recently, my first cousin told me of her husband's diagnosis of cancer with one year max life expectancy. He is only 52 and has it completely through him. They have 2 daughters 10 & 11, and a son, 18. My sister said she met him once, and that he is handsome and very nice. My cousin said he is a believer. Please remember Bob Ketchum as you pray for yourself. Surely we all need to get closer to God in love and each other as we near eternity, for our greatest encouragement is our assurance of salvation, the comfort of His Holy Spirit in our trials, and finally our eternal hope of everlasting life with all the "pure in heart".
I am praying earnestly for your healing and am sharing your requests with other Christian friends. We will appreciate prayer in our behalf, too. I hope I can come to IN this year according to God's will. I love you all.
